Are you a good servant of
Jesus Christ?
Timothy was a young Christian from Asia Minor, the son of Jewish mother and a Greek father. He became a companion and assistant to Paul in his mission work.
Timothy learnt a lot from Paul on how to live a godly life and be a leader, and an example for others to follow. Paul’s instruction to young Timothy was not only for him but for all, who are involved in Christian ministry. Paul’s lesson to Timothy was obedience to the law of God.
We should show by example. As we take responsibilities in different areas of our life we must prove our spiritual maturity in the way we interact with others. This is clearly shown in the life of Timothy. He followed his spiritual leader Paul. Likewise we have to live as examples for others to follow.
Paul said to young Timothy (1
Tim.4:11-16) – “Do not let any one look down on you because you are
young.”
But be a example in your Speech, Conduct, Love, Faith and Purity.
So keep on doing, watch yourself, give your time and effort and do not neglect the spiritual gift that is in you. Practice these things, and devote yourself to them in order that all may see your progress.
Golden Verse For You: “Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth; walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these God will bring you into judgment” – Eccle-11:9
Question: How can a young person keep their life pure?

DR STEPHEN ANTONY, Consultant, Department of ENT
Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery or FESS has brought about a revolution in the approach and treatment of Nose and Para Nasal Sinus infections. The achievement in the technique has been critical in the evolution of functional philosophy of sinus surgery. Dr Messerklinger first introduced this technique in the year 1978 and later by Dr Wigard in the year 1981. Dr Stamberger further refined the technique in the year 1986. From then on, this technique is being followed worldwide.
In our Institution we have performed over one hundred and fifty surgeries during the past one-year with one hundred percent results.
Basic principles in the infection of Para Nasal Sinuses:
Infection of the Para nasal sinuses, commonly known as Sinusitis, starts first in the nasal cavity. Repeated such infections causes obstruction to the drainage of the sinuses due to constriction of its openings, thus causing persistence of the infection, which flares up again and again. The patient usually presents with nasal symptoms and headache.
The equipment required for FESS is:
Endoscopes
Microdebrider
Camera
Metallic instruments.
The surgery is mostly done under local anesthesia. Those with extensive disease, children and non-cooperative patients, it is done under general anesthesia.
Other procedures that can be done through endoscope are:
Ophthalmic Surgery – Dacrocystorhinostomy (surgery of the tear duct)
Orbital decompression
Removal of Intraorbital tumors
Neurosurgery - Surgery of the Pituitary gland
Middle Cranial Fossa surgeries
CSF Rhinorrhoea closure
Conclusion:
FESS is a boon to both the ENT surgeons and the patients. Surgeries through FESS guidance have eased a lot of surgical tensions and newer techniques are being discovered day by day to make the procedure less painful and simpler.
TEACHER’S DAY 5TH
SEPTEMBER, 2004 A Day
to Remember
A Teacher’s Prayer
Give me Divine Master,
A sincere love for my students,
And deep respect for each one’s unique gifts.
Help me to be a faithful and devoted teacher,
With my eyes on the good of those I serve.
May I impart knowledge humbly,
Listen attentively and collaborate willingly,
And seek the lasting good of those I teach …
For this is true learning:
To know life as it should be lived;
To know ourselves as we truly are, and to hear
Your voice in every word we learn.
