HOSPITAL DAY CELEBRATIONS

It is the time of the year when we are thankful for all the mercies received over the last one yearIt is the time of the year when we are thankful for all mercies received over the last one year. This year we celebrate 112 years of the founding of our Hospital. To make this a memorable occasion we are once again embarking on a fund raising campaign to raise funds for equipping our hospital with state-of-the-art technology, which will benefit the needy people of our society as we strive to address the weaker sections of society.

The celebrations culminate in a one-day Fete on the 12th of November 2005 in the grounds of our Hospital, which will have fun, games, and plenty of food items and more particularly a day of relaxation with your family. Your presence and participation will be deeply appreciated.

YOUTH WORLD

"PSALM 1 - THE TWO WAYS "
Rev. Suresh Pawar, Religioius Works Department

Psalm 1 is a 'wisdom song'. It teaches one to live life that is pleasing in the sight of God - intellectually, morally and religiously. It also affirms the 'blessedness' of the righteous man and his faith that God will see him through.

'Blessedness' means 'Happiness'.

This Psalm tells us briefly that there are two ways people can choose how to live their lives. The choice is ours and we are responsible for the choice we make.

1. The way of the righteous:
These are people who reject the ways of evil. They seek to know and follow the ways God has shown. How do they know this? It is through the scriptures. They find joy or delight in studying and obeying God's Word. It does not stop there - they meditate on His Word day and night to seek God's will in their lives.

What are the results of choosing the righteous way?
· Delight in God's Word, which directs one's life.
· Meditating on His Word, which is the source of spiritual nourishment.
· A life which will be like a tree planted by the streams of water where the leaves will not wither but will be renewed day by day with the help of the Holy Spirit
· A fruitful life - in character, in good works, and in helpful service to others.
· A prosperous life - may not be in the worldly sense and material things - but a life that is worthwhile, work that is satisfying however hard it may be.
· Most of all, a life that will always be under God's care.

2. The way of the wicked:
There is always a temptation to follow the ways of the ungodly and the scoffers.
Their ways might seem attractive and make you feel you are 'in' with the world. The scoffers are those who laugh or make fun of people who serve the Lord, and try to do what is good and true, giving themselves in loving concern for others.

What are the results of choosing the wicked way?
· There is nothing in their lives that is good to themselves or to others.
· They are empty, worthless, and unstable.
· They are like 'chaff' that the wind drives away.
· They have no share in the fellowship of God's people.
· They are helpless before the divine judgment and therefore they perish.

The ultimate distinction is between those who stand in right relationship with God and their fellowmen, and those who deliberately reject the standards set by God.

Leslie Brandt puts the conclusion of this Psalm as: "the children of God walk in the course that God has ordained. The children of unbelief walk in paths of self-destruction".

Which way would you choose?

For your personal meditation, study the following passages along with the first two verses of Psalm 1
Joshua 1: 7, 8; Psalm 119: 14 - 16; Jeremiah 17: 7, 8.

May God guard us and keep us from being led away from Him. May we gladly seek to know and do His will at all times.
