The School of Nursing was established in 1950. Miss.Walker, Nursing Superintendent, recognized the need for training local girls in nursing. She trained a group of girls on basic patient care and for the very first time in India a Nursing Manual for Mission Hospitals was compiled and printed, through the pioneering effort of Miss. Walker. The Hospital is committed to promotion of total health in the spirit of Christ. In keeping with this the Church of South India Hospital, Bangalore has endeavored to impart professional education integrating Christian ideals.
Candidates are recruited from all over India. The basic Nursing Education is to develop young women into well integrated personalities who can carry out responsibilities of Nursing in the spirit of Christ, in the Hospital and Community at large. Our objective is to provide a high standard of Nursing Education and Nursing practice in keeping with our Christian principles. The students are expected to have an overall development during training, by which they will be able to grow with every new experience in and outside the profession. This training program is recognized by the Nurses League of Christian Medical Association of India ( NL,CMAI), Karnataka Nursing Council & Indian Nursing Council.
After the successful completion of preliminary training, every student nurse will serve the institution or any other Institution under the Karnataka Central Diocese, as recommended by the Management for two years following the successful completion of the training. The internship period is the first year of the two years service commitment.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
In an organization, it does not matter who is good or bad. For, if the customer (patient) does not get good service, everyone is going to pay the penalty. The whole system will collapse and everyone will suffer. It is surprising how often people forget this. They are so involved in inter-departmental rivalries, trying to pass the buck and blaming the others, that they do not realize that this attitude will sink the whole organization. It does not matter who is right or wrong. The important thing is to see the whole system is running right: to serve the patients. Private differences can be settled later. The important thing is to get the job done. Otherwise the whole organization closes down and everyone suffers.
“X” thinks that it is “Y’s” job and that “Y” is lazy. But what happens to the patient? That is what both “X” & “Y” have forgotten in their quarrel. What they do not realize is that if they continue quarreling the whole system folds up. Remember the patient is all important.

TENSION
The moment you are in Tension
You will lose your Attention
Then you are in total Confusion
And you will feel Irritation
Then you will spoil Personal Relation
Ultimately, you won’t get Co-operation
Then your BP may also rise in Proportion
And you may have to take Medication
Instead, understand the Situation
And try to think about the Solution
Many problems will be solved by Discussion
Which will work out better in your Profession
Don’t think it’s my free Suggestion
It is only for your own good Condition
If you understand my Intention
You are free from Tension
