EVENTS

DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTS

The Accounts & Billing Staff and representatives from other departments [Doctors, Nursing, Laboratory, Radiology, Dietary, Medical Records and Pharmacy ] met on 21st Saturday at 1:15 pm to have an interactive session on issues pertaining to Accounts & Billing in relation patient facilities, how to implement the changes  and the need to increase the pace of computerization.  The meeting began with a prayer by Rev.Suresh Pawar.

Introduction : Presently in any field, the demand of customer / client / consumer / buyer / patient has increased and increasing day by day at a greater speed.  One factor is advancement in Science and Technology.  We are in a situation where we cannot be lethargic, the result -  the patient will not come back again to us or we may even be drawn into litigation.  We need to or will be forced to increase the pace of providing service to the expectation of the patient.

Administrator spoke on “ Need of the hour – to be multifunctional and multi tasking”  He very clearly explained how a person can be multi functional.  Multi tasking [ Doing several things at the same time ] will be achieved with computerization.  He quoted “ It is not the number of hours you have worked, but what you have done matters”.

Department presentation were made which was chaired by the Medical superintendent, who was keen on finding solutions to the problems faced. Issues pertaining to accounts / billing were taken.  The source of information to billing is from Nursing, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, Medical Records, Dietary and Doctors.  Representative from each department were present to express their difficulties when it came to Billing and listened to Billing, the difficulty they face to finalize a bill for want of certain information from the department. The problems were addressed and solutions reached which will be implemented. She also said this should be followed by review meetings with the connected departments as an on going process.  This way the best services will be provided to our patients.

Mr. Mendis, CEO, Infolife gave a talk on computerization – how far the hospital has  come in computerization and how we plan to go on. He stated for the computerization to be completely successful there has to be complete co-operation from all departments. The software is customized to our hospital requirement and made user friendly with neatly made reports and management could have a greater control.

Mr. Sudarsan stated that at present Accounts / Payroll, Cash counter 1 & 2 , OP billing [credit ] , Medical Records [2], Lab are on line and by April 1st,  Pharmacy, Radiology, Stores and Registration counter at first floor are expected to go on line.  Thereafter the other departments will be computerised.  He emphasized that with computerization one has to adopt certain discipline and there cannot be any error, which may result in wrong billing etc.

Mrs.Asha John, Public Relation Officer spoke on the topic, “ being patient friendly and effective method of communication and discipline”.  She said “ Just as we have learnt to walk and talk we have to learn patience, tolerance and compassion. Another aspect she covered in her talk was effective communication.  Communication plays a significant role in the running and growth of the institution.  There are many ways of communication and it has to be a two communication.  In short we have to be friendly, confident, intelligent, clear, creative, enthusiastic, honest, tactful and above all take pride in our co- worker and our work.

Concluding remarks was made by the Medical Superintendent Dr.Helen Samuel.  . She read a passage from 1 Corinthians 12: 14-26 about one body and different parts. If one part is affected the whole body suffers. How all the parts help in executing one particular job.  She emphasized on the team work and one should be willing to go an extra mile.

Rev.  Suresh Pawar closed with a prayer and  benediction.  Mr.Edwin Enbaraj gave the  a vote of thanks.
