“You are like the light of the world. A City built
on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp
and puts it under a bowl; instead he puts it on a
lamp stand, where it gives light for everyone in
the house. In the same way your light must shine
before people, so that they will see the good things
you do and praise your Father in heaven”
Matthew 5:14 -16.

SPECIAL FEATURE
DEPARTMENT OF RADIO DIAGNOSIS & IMAGING
The Department of Radio Diagnosis had its origin as a small x-ray unit under the care of an x-ray technician way back in 1893. Dr.Seshanarayana , joined the faculty and with his valuable experience brought about a standard in Radiology comparable to some of the best in the city. With the limitation of a small machine, it was incredible how some of the sophisticated tests were done. In 1974 300mA x-ray unit and subsequently 725 mA x-ray unit with image intensifier system and mobile x-ray units were installed.
Today, the department functions as a modern Radio Diagnostic & Imaging Centre, conducting various routine X-Rays, Mammography, C-Arm procedures, TMT, Echo & ECG. On an average, 12,700 procedures are done annually.
A Diploma Course in Radio Diagnostic Technology was started in 1979 under the auspices of CMAI. Four students were admitted annually to start with. This course was upgraded and we were allowed to admit six students annually. Since 1999, the course is affiliated to the Government of Karnataka Paramedical Board. The criteria for admission are for students with science subjects who have finished 10+2 / Pre-University. The duration of the course is for two years. The students are sent to Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore, for exposure in Special Radiological Procedures like MRI, Computerised Tomography, Digital Subtraction Angiography and other Imaging Techniques.
