The Geriatric Ward is not an Old People's Home but a ward in the hospital where bedridden old people are cared for.
With nuclear families becoming the norm in most households, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the children to look after their aged parents at home.
The CSI Hospital became sensitized to this need of the community and established a Geriatric Ward beginning with just two beds. Word soon spread around and more people began to come in. As the need became more a separate ward in the fourth floor of the hospital was developed into a full-fledged Geriatric Ward.
There are now 26 beds in the ward and the demand for these beds is so much that there is now a waiting list for admissions into the ward.
